SLLGC & Society of Essex Past Ladies’ Captains Match Report

The match between our Society and the Essex Past Ladies’ Captains was held on 25 May. We played at our Captain’s home Club, Brentwood.

​

This was, in fact, a team game with 9 pairs from each Society teamed up together, playing a friendly format of 3 stableford scores to count on each hole – using 100% handicap.

​

Prizes were awarded to Cheng Loo, Elaine Lopategui (SLLGC), Louise Daniels and Dot Greaves (SELGC) in 1st place; and Ingrid Long, Alison Trinnick (SLLGC), Amanda Michael and Carol Loveday (SELGC) in 2nd place.

​

Our bacon rolls before our game and dinner afterwards made a fine addition to a pleasant day’s golf.

We would like to thank Brentwood Golf Club for hosting us and everyone for playing, with special thanks to the Past Ladies’ Captains for joining us for this friendly game between our two Societies.

SLLGC & SLGC Match Report

11 September 2023

The annual game with the Society of London Captains took place on a bright September Day at Brentwood Golf Club, the home Club of our Captain, Gillian Stallard.

​

We had 2 teams of 16, and played the game as a team of 4 event – with 2 scores to count from each team of 2 ladies and 2 men, playing off 85% course handicap.

​

A most enjoyable format which resulted in several very good scores; Lesley Carter, Catherine Wilkins, Paul Herting and Dave Morris came in with the winning score of 82 points, with Jackie Brown, Meera Tye, Peter Hughes and Mick Rowe taking 2nd place with 79 points.

​

We were catered for very nicely by Brentwood G. C. with bacon rolls before our game and delicious lamb shanks for dinner with apple crumble to follow.

​

We would like to thank the golf club for hosting us and everyone for playing, with special thanks to the London Captains for joining us for this friendly, annual game between our two societies.
